AN ORGY OF BODIES AWAIT YOU FOR AN ARTISTIC CHALLENGE!

We have been donated a number of bodies and body parts which now lay in an orgy of forms in a barrel at the Barracks..... so the President challenges all CCC artists to get on out there, grab a body and/or parts and paint them up for our amazing FOOD Week Exhibition....

We feel an installation coming on, of unbelievable proportions and extraordinary artiness..... so get on out there this weekend for your body part!

Banjo Festival another great show!

Thank you to all the artists who got in and worked hard to produce another great exhibition at the Barracks for Banjo Paterson Festival.... if you missed this delightful show, then there's always next time!

FOOD Week will be coming along shortly so get out your brushes and paints and produce more amazing works!

The Barracks is such an exciting venue now hosting 12 artists studios, two  galleries and much to see and do.....

If you weren't there you missed a great Social Meeting

We had our Social Meeting yesterday, held every second Thursday starting at 5.30 pm and usually finishing around 7 pm. Yesterday we had such a good time, we only left at 8.15 pm because all the nibbles got ate and so we went in search of further fodder :)
A very dry storm came and blew the power so we had most of the gathering by candlelight. Very atmospheric :)

We had a new applicant do a presentation and WOW! what a fantastical addition Meredith will be. Her work is so pretty and confronting all at the same time!

Don't forget to bring your art CCCs for the Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival, this weekend 13 - 14 February is the cut off date, so be there to help get the building ready and bring your creations! All exhibiting artists get together and get the building ready, put their name on the roster for two 3 hour sessions. It's a short festival but it's always fun to just hang together and talk art with each other and our visitors. The festival runs from 17 to 21 February and we're open every day from 10 am to 4 pm, with a celebration party on Saturday starting at 6 pm.

As it's Farmer's Market it's also the start of our once monthly opening of the Barracks to the public, lucky we'll be there already!

Welcome to the New Year 2016 and all it brings!

Well.... we made it through 2015 and boy, was it a tough year for many! But it' over and this year brings the promise of many more ideas, events, parties and fun times at the Barracks Galleries & Studios!

Most of the studios are full.... a lot of artists working their butts off to bring all the punters many new and wonderful artworks.... speaking of which, one of our members, the brilliant Gav is having a solo show at the Corner Store Gallery so let's all give him a round of applause! Make his night by turning up and supporting him..... make his opening a blast!

As well, we are preparing for our first BIG SHOW of the year, the Banjo Paterson Festival ART SHOW so get out those brushes and sort through the pile. Come along and join in this fun weekend for all the family.

Christmas Party

I haven't posted the last 3 weeks of our Tuesday art sessions..... sorry y'all
But I do have to post a reminder about our Christmas party to which ALL are welcome, you, your family, your friends! It's tomorrow!

get together session 3, Tuesday 17 November

Judy, Jola and Iku were joined by Bev to play with mono-printing, hectography and calligraphy. It's great to just hang and do stuff with colour, line, texture and paper. We don't solve world problems, just relax and let the creative juices ooze.....
Iku let me grind her 20 year old ink on her special stone... though I thought it smelled funny she knew it smelled of pine and canola and what colour each would impart on the finished media. It's great sharing knowledge.... maybe we'll rename the day to a sharing knowledge day :)

Tuesday Print session - Hectograph or Monoprint session 2

Our second session of experimenting with the hectograph print technique or monoprinting, same really.
Judy Kich, Ikuko Fujisawa and moi gathered our equipment and imaginations and did some printing at the Barracks on yesterday.
It's creative, loosening, exciting, fun and produces some fantabulous textures in most unexpected ways. Plus as a bonus it's quick, so in our 3 to 4 hours we end up with 6 to a dozen prints from which other art can spring.
You get so focused and precise with technique and creativity that spontaneity becomes a bit elusive as the years go by. So Tuesdays are our go off the tangent, have fun with art, experiment and interact days.
If you want to join us, please come, we start at 10.30 am at the Barracks every Tuesday and go until about 2 pm or longer sometimes.... depends....

Aida dropped in and had a play with a bit of hectograph monoprinting  :) We even had a little go with my new pyrography tool.... but I need better wood... pine is weird....soft with hard ridges.... though Aida suggested using it on paper/card.....hmmmm

Art Tuesday

Inspired by Fayah and Audrey who have a paint together day, Judy and Jola have put away part of their Tuesdy to explore art together.
As Judy has a small printing press the first explore was lino blocks and her printing press.
It's been a while since either one has cut a lino block but cut they did and had so much fun totally forgot to document in the fun of ink, paper, brayers, felt and the right pressure and wonderful results! Yay!
We used printing ink but Judy also suggested embossing and WOW am I blown away and excited, sooooo beautiful!

Next week it's monoprints and gelli plate fun :)
