Ironbarks Festival Exhibition

Relaxing today after the Ironbarks Festival in Stewart Town. The exhibition was held in the Ironbarks Creative Arts Centre, such a beautiful building! Thank you Tim Winters for inviting CCC, Phil and I had a great time and it was also wonderful to meet the talented ladies from Fresh Arts Dubbo. Lyn Winters was there with all sorts of helpful advice and the day ended up very special :)
I made a slide show with some photos from the setup day through to the drive for the festival and all the way to taking the exhibition down, with the final shot being an empty room...... just as we found it :)

Ironbarks Festival the day of the hanging

Today we went to Stewart Town to hang the exhibition. What a wonderful building the Railway Hotel is! The festival will be an excellent event not only for all the effort put into it but also because the surroundings are magical with the history and true flavour of Australia as it used to be and as it is outside of the metropolitan bustle of major cities.

What's an art party?

Well, an interesting question indeed! I was aksed this by a reporter who kept referring to our night of debauchery as a Masked Ball..... noo! I replied, not a Ball, an art party! You know! It's where creative folk get together and celebrate art, life and being creative! and that's what we did!

The Barracks are a great place to party and after working all week to hang lights, get atmosphere, collect food... you get the drift, we danced till the wee hours, chatted in corners, laughed and sang, imbibed and nibbled! It was indeed great fun as my poor body let me know for several days after!

If you missed it, then ah well! That's life! We didn't mope around missing anyone but made the most of excellent company, fun people and had a good time which we are all inclined to repeat as soon as we can!

Here's a couple of pics that I managed to take before getting carried away on the dance floor!

Libby and Hugh from Jayes Gallery of Molong cut a dashing couple in their masks!

Well - see you next time!

VENICE in ORANGE!

It won't be too Slow this Summer in Orange, besides a wonderful number of artistic events, fun and games galore, what better to top it all off than a celebration with friends......

During the Fringe Festival, yes, you did hear correctly, Colour City Creatives, that talented and fun group of artistic folk in Orange are holding a huge party along the theme of a masquerade in Venice! There'll be music, dancing by moonlight, liaisons in the dark, masks and costumes (if you must!) and lots of art, food and wine all on a balmy summer's eve at the Barracks Gallery! Saturday 2 February 2013 at 7 pm till late!

For those who don't have a mask and want to come along incognito, there's also a mask making workshop the weekend before to make sure you look your absolute best on the night!

So if it's art, fine food and wine, masked madames and music, then forget the Venice Biennale, forget the tiring journey in a stuffy plane, forget the tedium of life for a while and join us in Orange for a Night in Venice!

When: Saturday 2 February 2013 at 7 pm
Where: The Barracks Gallery & CCC Studios, 2B Peisley Street, Orange NSW Australia
Cost: Gold Coin unless otherwise decided..... so please check.....

Everyone Welcome!
