unbridled creativity

creatives are irrepressible producers of art and our bunch just can't sit still, they are forever creating another wonderous expression of the working of their mind :)
love, love, love it!
that's our Maggie Rosso, painting a beautiful Babushka while waiting for art to be submitted to our next group exhibition, with David Nolan's art looking on, over her shoulder. The Babushka painting is now for sale in our shop :)
and Lanny Mackenzie above, who is an unstoppable weaver, she's just done the most amazing horse's head for the Sculpture in the Gardens..... gosh..... it's just too gorgeous!

Seems like just yesterday

Seems like just yesterday that Banjo Paterson Festival finished and here we are, about to get our FOOD festival exhibition hung.
"Places Spaces and Faces" will be one of our best exhibitions, a fitting showcase of the local talent and beautifully timed for this special year.
It has been 10 years since Colour City Creatives was created. It took another year before we moved into the Barracks building and found a home at the East Fork railway precinct.

Look at us now, from a handful of members to 47. With 3 major exhibitions, monthly open days and for those who love to create together, we have a "Paint In A Day" Wednesday for all CCC members. So come any or every Wednesday to the Barracks, and let's paint together.
If you're not a member, there's an application form you can download here, if you would like to join CCC. The only self run, self-funded, art co-operative in Orange. We welcome all creatives, poets, video artists, painters, sculptors, potters, glass artists..... how do you express yourself?

Kaye creates a "Baker's Mixed Dozen"

Kaye creates a “Baker’s Mixed Dozen”

Always the searcher, Colour City Artist, Kaye Partridge has 'played around' with oils and watercolours for years.

In preparation for CCC's Wine Week's art exhibition the “Mixed Dozen” Kaye has produced her 'Baker's Mixed Dozen'.

“When starting out on this art work, I endeavoured to include 12 wine bottles in various shapes and sizes,” Kaye said.

Kaye continued, “after abstracting the original design, it became difficult to keep an accurate count of number of bottles. Finally it became apparent there were 13 bottles (I think) ....... thus the title ... Baker’s Mixed Dozen!!

To see Kaye and other CCC's 'Mixed Dozen' creations

visit 'The Barracks' at 2b Preisley Street

CCC studios and galleries will be open

Lanny Mackenzie, one of "The Mixed Dozen"!

Colour City Creative is graced with several talent immigrants, one of whom is the ever smiling Lanny Mackenzie.
Lanny grew up in Java and Bali Indonesia. She was surrounded from a young age by the art of her father’s impressionist paintings and her grand father’s Chinese Calligraphy.

With vibrant colours blazing from her family's walls she took up, in 2002, the task of learning basketry and sculptural weaving. Using naturally forage materials and recycled every day items, Lanny's works create functional baskets, weaving with her own experimental twists producing a modern 'look'.

Over the years Lanny learned her craft under the toutalage of several master weavers. She now willingly shares this passion and knowledge with others through her popular weaving workshops, all over Australia and overseas.

Lanny says “Weaving is a very forgiving form of art, cultivating creative thinking and problem solving, and encourage individual self-expression resulting in satisfaction in creating something unique and part of own personal journey and culture”.

Lanny's creations are in private collections and selected galleries in NSW and Bali.

Colour City Creative (CCC) group will be opening their gallery and studio doors

during this year's

Orange Wine Festival

on the weekends of

October 13-14 and 20-21

from 10 AM until 4 PM.

There will be a grand opening on Saturday the 13th of October from 6 PM.

"The Mixed Dozen" - a feature during Wine Festival Orange NSW

While Joy Engelman prepares her latest works for Colour City Creatives, “The Mixed Dozen” Wine Week exhibition, she has her grandson Oscar Engelman next to her for support. “Oscar often sits and paints with me which delights my old artist soul. I love having him watching what I do while I try to help him develop his own visions,” Joy said.

Joy also shares with another group named, “The Wilderists”. As the name suggest this group travels widely through the outback seeking inspiration. Currently the group is exhibiting at Grenfell Art Gallery in "The Call of the Wild" until 14 October.

She calls the body of work created in the field, "The Eye of an Eagle" because every time she's gone to paint in the desert, eagles have sat near her. "I have come to realise that eagles see the world in a completely different way to us. And that realisation has had a profound impact on my work,” Joy concluded. For more information regarding Joy visit her website,
